Culture & History
Amanfayun sits nestled in a valley near West Lake, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its tranquil shores lined with fragrant lotus blossoms and verdant trees. Delve into Chinese culture and history as you chant with the monks in the morning at Faxi Temple, before visiting ancient Lingyin Temple - one of the oldest and most significant Buddhist temples in China. Immerse yourself in the artistic history of the region with a calligraphy lesson alongside a master artist at Amanfayun and take a trip to China's silk capital, Hangzhou, where bustling streets showcase a variety of silk boutiques.
Spa Breaks
The Aman Spa at Amanfayun is magnificent. Located in a beautifully designed two-tier building, there are eight treatment rooms and a fitness studio featuring extensive gym facilities, as well as a specialised fitness centre offering T'ai Chi, yoga, Pilates and meditation programmes. Spa treatments incorporate ancient Asian techniques and heavenly Chinese massage, while the Reflexology Room offers indulgent hand and foot treatments. In addition, the Spa has a wonderful Bath House with another three treatment rooms, each comprising a circular wooden bath, steam room and a double-seated rain shower. After your spa treatment, look forward to a refreshing glass of juice from the Juice Bar before discovering your shoes have been beautifully polished (having left them at reception, they will have been expertly cleaned during your treatment).
In Addition
Local monks are permitted to walk through the hotel’s stone walkway, so be prepared to see non-residents as you head towards Fayun Place, which houses Amanfayun's lounge, library, spa and outdoor heated swimming pool.
